Dear Subscribder,

A special Holiday Greeting from the Fairfield County Concours to all of you who helped made 2010 such a success. Thank you.

And welcome to the first newsletter of the 2011 Fairfield County Concours - two beautiful days; two fantastic events.

We are finalizing plans for the 2011 event, which is scheduled for September 17-18, 2011.  As we add more to the event schedule through the early part of 2011, we will keep you updated via our newsletters and website.

We are announcing our Sunday Concours Featured Judging Classes and Special Exhibits in this newsletter, and hope that you will be at the 2011 Concours to enjoy them, as well as all of the vehicles on the field and our other activities throughout the weekend.

We will once again celebrate Car and Motorcycle Clubs on Saturday, along with our Nutmeg Tour for Autism and Bonhams Auction Preview.

Bonhams will return in 2011 with an even more vehicles and memorabilia on offer on Sunday.

2011 Featured Judging Classes
Porsche: We always anticipate a strong field of Porsches representing our Presenting Sponsor. The 2010 winner of the Porsche Cars North America - Significant Porsche was a 1955 Speedster owned by George Kehler.

Jaguar E-Type: This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Jaguar E-Type.  While we have always had a good showing of E-Types (or XK-E in the US), we hope to have a special grouping for 2011. A great success for Jaguar, over seventy thousand E-Types were sold during its lifespan from 1961 to 1975.  It was an iconic vehicle of the 60's.

Woodies: The Connecticut Woodies made such an impression at Car Club Day in 2010, we decided to bring back the classic wooden vehicles as a Judged Class for 2011.

 Preservation:

Always a favorite of our guests, the FIVA Pre-War Preservation class rewards owners who have maintained their vehicles in un-modified condition.
Special Exhibits
Chrysler Hemi-powered:  While the hemispherical combustion chamber engine has been around for many years in many applications, Chrysler made it famous with its Hemi-powered Dodge Challenger, Charger and Plymouth 'Cuda.  But the Chrysler Hemi was found in many other uses and vehicles - such as this Chrysler Hemi-Powered Kurtis-Kraft 500A roadster at Indy in May of 1953. Our Special Exhibit will demonstrate the many applications for the Chrysler Hemi engine.

Isotta Fraschini: In the early 20th century, Isotta Fraschini was famous worldwide as a luxury car manufacturer.  With the growth of the wealthy middle class in North America in the 1920s, Isotta Fraschini marketed deluxe limousines to the new American aristocracy. Early film stars Clara Bow and Rudolph Valentino drove Isotta Fraschinis.

BMW Classic Motorcycles: BMW is known for its performance and luxury vehicles, and is a leader in premium car sales.  Founded in 1916, they have also produced motorcycles and aircraft engines.  Today, BMW also produces Husqvarna motorcycles, the Mini and is the parent company of Rolls Royce Motor Cars.  Pictured is the first BMW Motorcycle - the 1921 R32.

Fomula 1: One series has its roots in the European Grand Prix Motor Racing of the 1920s and 1930s. The "formula" is a set of rules which all participants and cars must follow. Formula One was a new formula agreed upon after World War II in 1946, with the first non-championship races being held that year. We present a number of examples of the best of Formula 1 racing vehicles through the years. Pictured is Stirling Moss's Lotus 18 at the Nürburgring in 1961.
